Two years ago we used the GuideAlong (formerly known as GyPSy Guide) touring the BI, and this year we used the Shaka Guide. We very much preferred the GuideAlong Guide as it was much easier to use, and gave more historical information. I disliked the fake laughter and self-amusement of the Shaka Guide narrator, and some of the recommendations made by Shaka were so hyped that it felt like.. I'm using Guide Along and have been happy with it. After getting it, I saw that Shaka might have more routes to offer. The Guide Along really covers the main highway loop around the island - nothing really on the interior.. We really enjoyed using Shaka Guide on Maui and Oahu. The app worked well even when cell service went out and we liked the narrator. I know some people absolutely hate it for various reasons.
