The Jester a rogue subclass [Bartholomeus' Tome of Battle] [5e] r

I think the jester is a much more appropriate class for the rogue, and it'll be a lot more fun to use. However, as was the case with my modern firearm classes, this hasn't been playtested, as it's more of an exploration than a final product.. During your rogue training you learned thieves' cant, a secret mix of dialect, jargon, and code that allows you to hide messages in seemingly normal conversation.

For a Jester character, i would recommend Arcane trickster if you want to go into the 'tricks and cool stuff' gimmick, allowing you to use enchantment and illusion spells to fool enemies. Assassin definitely works, but is more subject to the type of game you're playing (it favours intrigue/mystery games rather than dungeon delving/wilderness.. The concentration checks make sense, but adding more benefits to justify concentration and half movement could really make this a fun and unique way to play rogue. Nasty Insults: Light cleric basically gets this same class feature right from level 1, so waiting until 13th to get something near identical feels underwhelming.
