This is the true story of an American town that vanished because of a book. In the summer of 1967, Mark and Dina Pines were sent to stay with their great-uncle Harold in a small forest town in Oregon, officially known as Gravity Fall. At the time, it was a real place—a sheriff's office, a school, a lumber mill, and just under 900 people. Three weeks into their visit, Mark found a loose.. Literally. Gravity Falls has a real-life prototype — and it's called Boring. There's a town in Oregon with that exact name. Alex Hirsch, the show's creator, spotted it on a road sign while traveling through the state back in 2016. He said he never actually went there, but the idea of a town with such a gloomy name seemed weirdly charming.

Gravity Falls is a mysterious lumber town and titular location in eastern Oregon, [1] in Roadkill County. It was founded by Quentin Trembley, but in an attempt to cover Trembley's existence was said to be founded by Nathaniel Northwest. It is also an epicenter for supernatural occurrences and paranormal activity. It is where Stan Pines runs the Mystery Shack, a tourist trap which overcharges.. Mt. Hood, Medford, La Grande, Corvallis (spelled incorrectly) and even the Indian Reservation are all real places in Oregon. I figured the best way to gauge where Gravity Falls was, was to look at Mt. Hood and the Indian Reservation. There's actually not that much space a town could fit in between there without being on the reservation.
