relay wiring Got a new starter relay today and still having problems myself.. Here's what I got. big terminal marked "bat" is hot all the time. terminal marked "F" is 12v hot when key is on. terminal marked "I" is 12v hot when key is in start position. terminal marked "G" is what I can only figure to be a body ground?(black wire with white stripe).. Looking for a wiring diagram, help, your experience, or advice… 2009 Commander Limited 5.7 Repairing this for my aunt so, I don't know a lot of background/history. Initially, had a crank-no start. I sprayed starting fluid in the intake and it fired up but, would only rev about 200 rpms above 1,000 rpm idle. I trailered it to my house.
You need a wire that supplies 12v when the key is in the "start position" not "on position" to connect to the start relay. Think about it, you only want the relay to switch voltage to the solenoid (which in turn engages and allows the starter motor to turn) when the key is in the start position.. From the diagram it looks like this wire sends the signal to the Stop/Start Relay which also is connected to the relay for the starter solenoid. However, if you click the link above you can see there are quite a few other systems also connected to this.. If the PDM relays are solid state then the wiring diagram shows what the PDM would look.
