Both the 2004R and 700R4 use a lockup-style torque converter that requires 12 volts and a pressure switch to lock up in Fourth gear. This eliminates the need for a manual switch. When retrofitted into early musclecars, these trannies require the pressure switch to be changed and a few wires rerouted.. This diagram shows the stock TCC (Torque Converter Clutch) and brake light switch with the yellow wire feeding through the switch and con-tinuing down to the 'A' terminal on the connector going into the transmission.
Remove filter by gently pulling down on filter. It is a slip fit. Remove the torque converter clutch solenoid and attaching wires. It is held in by 2 bolts. Remove the 4th gear pressure switch (2) and install the new 4th gear pressure switch provided in the kit. This switch is located next to the round servo at the rear corner of the case.. C3 Tech/Performance - One wire torque converter lockup - I've been reading threads and want to make sure I'm understanding this correctly. I'm installing a 700r4 and according to the diagram below I only have to have a keyed 12 volt power source to pin A and it will lock up in 4th gear only. Is that correct? I will be.
