Martin introduced the DC-AURA Custom Shop Limited Edition in 2004. It had the Fishman "Aura" System electronics, full gloss lacquer finish and enhanced appointments including Style 41 top inlay, hexagon outline fingerboard inlays, and C. F. The Martin DC Aura was a pretty fancy guitar for its day and had built-in electronics that are impressive in terms of features and sound quality. DC has the big, rich relaxed sound of a Martin Dreadnought coming into its prime. Low notes ring out loudly with ample sustain, and the guitar has plenty of natural volume. While Dreadnoughts are prized for their midrange projection, the DC is punchy.

The original DC Aura has abalone purfling while the GT model does not, which was an original deal breaker for me on buying a GT model.
