"Star Trek into Darkness" is a great sci-fi with a good story of Kirk and his crew and a powerful villain. The good acting and direction associated to top-notch special effects make a highly entertaining movie.. By the end, Star Trek Into Darkness ends up feeling too much like a retread of the first feature without offering anything unique or different stylistically or intellectually. The characters are still likable, Abrams (and crew) knows that we like the characters, and Abrams (and crew) clearly likes the characters. Even Scotty's little green friend returns. That pleasantness can and does cover.
A skillful space-faring adrenaline overdose, if not really my idea of a Star Trek film. Into Darkness has the makings of a curvy, complicated red tape thriller, but its predictability, superficiality and outright refusal to go more than five minutes between jump-cut-loaded action scenes halts those.. And when it came to the themes of vengeance and justice and understanding, it seemed like the negative reviews had nothing to say at all. So I'm going to outline what I see as the themes of Into Darkness, and propose a theory as to why so many Trek fans missed them.
