I expected Pike Place to be busy, but on a beautiful Sunday before we enter the rainy season, it felt like half of downtown was in there. It didn't surprise me to find cheese, flowers, and.. A butcher shop that began in 1946, Loback's was one of several butcher shops at Pike Place Market, selling specialties such as homemade sausages, goose and luau pigs. It shut down in 1986, and two separate ventures to revive it failed, closing for good in 1989. The sign, though, perseveres.
